We want you to know that our office is among the safest places you can go, once you leave your home. The protection of our patients and staff is crucial. The better we all do at this, the less chance that any of us pick up anything that might infect others.
As usual, instruments are sterilized after each use, as are handpieces. We use many items that are disposed after each use. All surfaces in the operatories are disinfected with a strong disinfectant –the solutions that we use are approved to kill Hepatitis and
HIV microbes-COVID, Influenza and RSV viral particles are far less hardy than these.
Clinical staff routinely use gloves, mask and eye protection. We may also wear face shields and additional gear.
You may be asked to rinse before many procedures with a dilute hydrogen peroxide solution. This kills many virus particles, and will result in a greatly reduced amount of patient aerosol.
You will notice the absence of magazines and children’s toys in the reception room as these can’t be adequately disinfected between patients.
Doorknobs, faucets and other items routinely touched by patients and staff will be disinfected multiple times each day.
All treatment rooms have air filtration units that greatly reduce viral particles and impurities in the air.
